We perform internal sterility testing using dual media per USP guidelines on each batch. We also send samples to an independent FDA-registered analytical lab to perform potency, sterility, and endotoxin testing in accordance with USP <71> Sterility Test and USP <85> Bacterial Endotoxin.

It depends on what you’re ordering. If you’re ordering prescription medication, yes, it’s a requirement of State and Federal rules and regulations. In order to ensure your animal receives the proper treatment, we work with your prescriber to get a valid prescription. That said, we are a full-service pharmacy and also dispense over-the-counter medications that do not require a prescription. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions!

Sending your prescription to us is simple, and we have multiple options for your convenience: Email us at hello@mixlab.com or text/call us at (888) 901-4480. Ask your prescriber to send us a prescription directly, or let us know who your prescriber is so we can get the prescription authorized for you. If another pharmacy is currently filling your medication, let us know, and we’ll reach out to them to have the refills transferred. Once we receive your request, we’ll reach out to your prescriber to confirm the prescription.
Once we receive your prescription, our veterinary pharmacists will reach out to your prescriber to confirm the details. Once we’ve processed the prescription, you’ll receive a text to complete your online checkout and schedule your delivery. Our Care Team will reach out to you via phone or email in case you’re not able to text.

The next time you have an active order and we text you a link to checkout, you will have the opportunity to create an account during the checkout process. The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and FDA Compliance Policy Guidelines state that once medication leaves the pharmacy, we are legally unable to take it back. Please keep in mind that these policies are set in place to protect you and your animal from receiving potentially harmful substances. Yes, we do. The ordering and delivery process for pet parents is the same for controlled substances. However, please note confirming the prescription with your prescriber could take a few days. Additionally, we may require a physical copy of the prescription and you may need to be present to sign for the delivery.

We make it easy to identify your medication's expiration date. Just look for the letters "BUD", which stands for beyond-use-date, on the bottle.
We specifically compound each medication for your pet's needs. Therefore, we do not recommend cutting / breaking your compounded chews as we cannot guarantee the strength in each half when this occurs.

Once your order has been prepared, purrfected and packaged, it will be scheduled for delivery and assigned tracking information. Refill reminders are calculated based on the prescription days supply or dosing schedule. If the days supply is 30, you will be reminded about 20 days after you received your last refill of the medication to ensure that your refill arrives before you run out. If you are having issues with the refill reminder cadence, it is likely that the prescription information we have on file is outdated. Please don't hesitate to text us at 888-901-4480 and we'd be happy to help!
For qualifying orders, our auto refill program ensures your animal never runs out of medication, plus, you'll get 5% off each refill! Once you sign up, your refills will begin arriving on a set cadence depending on your prescription's days supply. Don't worry, we always reach out before charging your card and starting on the order. If you ever need to modify or cancel an order, just respond to the alert within 24 hours of receiving it. We'll notify you once your prescription runs out of refills, and once the new prescription is received, just turn on auto-refill again to start saving!
To qualify for auto refills, your prescription must have enough refills available to accommodate a repeating order. Prescriptions with short therapeutic windows or varying dose schedules, along with some controlled medications are not eligible. Contact us if you have any questions!
You can opt in to auto refill at checkout, or you can log in to portal.mixlab.com to turn it on. Once opted in, all you need to do is keep your contact and payment information updated and enjoy 5% off your pet's medications. We'll remind you when it's time for your next auto refill!
When your prescriber writes your animal's prescription, they outline the dosing schedule and days supply. Our auto refill program predicts when your medication will run out based on this information. To change your auto refill schedule, we will need an updated prescription from your veterinarian with the correct days supply and dosing schedule. However, you can always select to "snooze" your refill to a date that works better for you. It's normal to have some medication left when your next refill arrives; after all, we aim to deliver before you run out to ensure your animal never misses a dose.
Absolutely! You can modify or cancel an order as long as payment has not yet been processed. We will alert you 24 hours before payment is processed and your order is started. All you need to do is respond within 24 hours and we will take care of your request. If you have a Mixlab self-service account, you can also log in at portal.mixlab.com to cancel or snooze your auto refill order.
We aim to deliver your next refill before you completely run out, so it is normal to have a few days worth of medication left when your next refill arrives. If your prescription hasn't changed, you should always use the medication in the order you received it. If you ever need to turn off auto refill or skip a delivery, just let us know! Or if you have a Mixlab self-service account, you can log in at portal.mixlab.com to cancel or snooze your auto refill order.
